>>>>>>BTW did you watch the football. I thought we where very poor especially in attack. Rooney seemed very subdued. The USA came very near to winning. That save by Green was deflected onto the post and very nearly a second goal.

One of the applications I support is used full time by the distribution department, the people who send out and receive back our main product. One of the managers asked me to come over about something and it was like a ghost town. You could have fired a cannonball through there and not touched a soul.

USA commercial power would give them a big say in shaping the game and that wouldn't necessarily be a good thing (I can see it now 50 foot wide goals and stopping every ten minutes for adverts). Maybe you should compete on a state basis, it works for the UK we have England Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland potentially qualifying.
>>>
>>>You're probably right. I'm not sure how unspoiled professional soccer is now, though. Man United is not exactly a lemonade stand.

>I thought they were going broke? Must make them even more popular in the UK.

The only thing they own of any value is Manchester United and they borrowed hugely against the cub to buy it.Prior to their involvement Manchester United where debt free, the club now owes £700 million. They are deeply unpopular with the Manchester fans, there's a big Glazers out movement. Same sort of thing is happening with the US owners of Liverpool. In fact the only US owner who gets good press is Randy Lerner (his life must have been hell at school) at Aston Villa.
