The Installation Wizard " Instance Configuration" asks me to specify Named Instance. My question is, what is the typical name given in thes cases? Or it does not matter? (I want to be sure that later I won't have any issues if I use a "wrong" name). And it looks like this Instance Name will be part of the folder name where the SQL Server 2008 will be installed (e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.[Name])

SQL Express is probably an instance named SQLEXPRESS. You may be able to make your SQL 2008 the default instance (no name).

If not, I personally name my instances based on the version of SQL I'm using, since I have multiple versions on some machines. My SQL 2008 instance is called SQL2008 (obviously). Now I have an SQL2008R2 version as well. Of course this falls flat if you are going to have more than one instance of a particular flavor of SQL.
