>I have restored a database into SQL Server 2008. I want to try using the new DATE type column. So I got into SSMS 2008, went to one of the tables and tried to change the type that was SmallDateTime to Date. When attempting to save the changes I get the following message:

Try Tools->Options->Designers->Table and Database designers-> uncheck "Prevent saving changes that require table re-creation"
