.Wealth begets wealth via opportunity. Wealthy people have more investment capital and more opportunities to invest than the poor so naturally their wealth is going to increase faster. Thus the expression "the first million is always the hardest".Nobody disagrees. But a high level of disparity historically has let to collapse and the current level is the highest in recorded history, even compared to the extreme level just prior to the Great Depression.
