Thank you for your input. By the way I am under the impression that the code I used a couple of months ago - using the old style activeX - would also crash on haphazard as well. Not on XP but on Vista definitely so.

I am stuck. And ready to move to code alternatives. Possibly not fll-based since the application - in the end - is deployed via molebox ultra. I though for a while that the molebox virtualizer was getting in the way. But it looks like this was not the bug source. It looks more like a VFP or Windows bug.
