Hopefully John Ryan will reply. I think he did quite a bit of work with Java ...I'm not sure how much C# he's done... I find the VS ide incredibly easy to use. I've only worked with Java (Eclipse) for some droid stuff...

>Just a couple thoughts here for a little feedback. I have next to 0% experience in C++, and not much more with C# and Java.

At this point I am particularly interested in the syntax of the language and working around the IDE's. Anway, as a long time FoxBase then VFP programmer I must say I am pleasantly surprised how I seem to understand C# - to the point that I am not going to bother with VB.NET. But my bigger surprise is that I also feel very comfortable with Java as well, and its code "just makes as much sence as C#" and sometimes more.

>In my thinking, this is good (learning both) as I just don't want to be locked into one companies language or development product again and they decide to just pull the plug like they did with VFP a few years ago. So, as I am working through the VS2010 stuff and video's, and I am doing the exact (or close) similar stuff with Java here in these early stages of learning (I like the Java cross platform ability). At some point I make change my mind and just chose VS2010 or Java, but not at this point.

>To my surprise on the Java side is the just released NetBeans 6.9 (although I am using Eclipse as well, but it seems NetBeans is a tad more slick). It is slim and fast, and easy to use.

>Are there any other dual Java and C# users reading this, and if so am I missing something - or is Java and C# just that similar as they appear to be? Any additional thoughts on NetBeans 6.9 and Eclipse are also welcome.
