Hi Eric,
Your welcome.

The connection under Databases is used for MM stuff. The other connection string must have been generated by creating a object Data source for something else you have done. I do not create anything in my MM apps that would put a connections string in the web ( or app) config files except the MM section.

Can't help with the indexing thing.
