Has anyone linked VFP5 to WordPerfect 8?

I have an application that talks to Word quite happily and I was starting to set it up with WordPerfect however as soon as I do anything after the CreateObject Visual FoxPro 5.0a crashes. Even the simplest code falls over eg

local WP

WP = CreateObject("WordPerfect.PerfectScript")

WP.Type ("Hello There")
WP.Quit
WP = ""

This works fine in Visual Basic what am I missing?
