I'm using Dabo (python, wxPython). My apps are desktop (although there is a web interface for special entry - django) database programs very similar to the VFP apps I built in the past.
The forms are built using Dabo - but not the ClassDesigner.
PDF Reports also using Dabo along with ghostscript for printing.
Spreadsheets are xlwt.
email use python SMTP
Text messages python SMTP
Database is Postgres

My apps run on windows, linux, and the Mac.

I have just recently added accounting functions (invoices, void invoices, credit memos, debit memos, credit card payments) all feeding into xTuple.

I'm not using anything but open source. What I have at the moment matches 99% of everything I did in VFP. The only thing I'm missing is MDI. I'm working on moving from SDI to MDI. But I'm the first to admit there are some very good things about SDI.

As you can tell I don't see this any different than working with VFP. But now I'm not depending on MS to make a living.
