John, I appreciate your reply and apologize for not respondng sooner. I’ve been out of the country for a few days dealing with a family issue.

I have an Inno Setup script that has been used on the client’s Windows XP workstations for several years. About 4 months ago I modified it for use on a Windows 7 machine they recently purchased as a trial. The client reports that the app installs and runs without error on the new workstation, but updates don’t occur. It would appear that the launcher’s command to copy the update from the server to the local drive does not execute.

In the RUN section of the script, the launcher has the flag [runascurrentuser]. Inno documentation indicates the flag allows the launcher to inherit the Admin credentials in use at the time of Setup/Installation but it does not say that those credentials remain as attributes of the file.

In the FILES portion of the script the application itself has the parameter [Permissions: users-modify]. Inno documentation states this allows the user to delete the file. I can find no specific permission that would enable the user to copy a new file to overwrite an existing one and that is what the copy command actually does.

The app and launcher are in the application directory (not a subdirectory of Program Files) and the launcher is the Target of the desktop shortcut. What am I missing? Is there a way to make this process work?
