I've written a stock control app in VFP - operates on the principle that everything is barcoded - althought the system has facility to print barcodes which can be attached to stock

Operates with wireless scanners, each scanner being linked to a workstation or virtual machine, the system, talks to the operator to confirm what has been scanned

I don't provide free software but would provide it with operating notes for $250
