The US suffers a terrorist attack and suddenly the sky is falling.

Internment camps (Guantanamo Long Kesh etc) are political sops to those with a limited reading age. Politicians can say "Look we're doing something active. Look at all the terrorists we've locked up" but for some strange reason the attacks keep coming.

Nicholas, a few facts:

1) There has not been an attack on U.S. soil since 9/11. (It is generally believed, however, that there have been foiled attempts). Even those who didn't like Bush must concede this fact. If Obama has half a brain, he'll keep things going.

2) As I said, your country has not experienced these types of attacks. As I said, when a group flies planes into your buildings that lead to thousands of deaths in a matter of hours, then come back and talk. Until that day (which I hope DOESN'T happen), you're not on solid ground to talk.

3) Your lines remind me of the many political ostriches in the world, who just want to bury their head in the sand and not acknowledge that Islamic fundamentalists want to draw bloodshed on U.S. soil. They must be defeated. The U.S. declared war on Islamic terrorists right after 9/11, which means Gitmo is part of a military system. War is not nice. It is not pretty.

It is moral cowardice and sanctimonious hypocrisy for other countries to sit back and criticize us when we try to defend ourselves. Defending against attacks, in this case, means stopping them for good. Islamic terrorists (and nations like Iran that sponsor them) also know that half the politico-sissies of the world will denounce the United States for taking action when attacked. (They practically bank on it...they are smart enough to realize that the U.S. is capable of crumbling from within....any militant group knows the psychology of their victims, perhaps more than the victims themselves).

So if ANYONE needs introduction to the realities of life, it is you.
