There is no doubt that the Brits and other countries have experienced similar attacks. However, none to match the traumatic effect of 9-11 here of the twin towers, the Pentagon, the plane crashing into the field. That day was something that no other western country has experienced at the hands of terrorists (I will leave Iraq and Afghanistan out of the discussion because neither is a western country and their situation is different). I think Kevin is right when you consider the shear immensity and effect of the attacks that day. It was not something this country has experience ever in the past and it totally removed the false sense of security most in this country had prior to that day.

I also understand his frustration with the continuous blame the U.S. first attitude we see here. It's as though there are some who cannot acknowledge anything positive about the U.S. at all without throwing in a negative comment A good example is the post I made regarding the number of laws in a country where I mentioned the difference in the way the constitution was set up. It was not meant to deride any other country but simply to answer a question that was posted. Yet it turned into a verbal attack on this country (again). There are plenty of mistakes made by every western country, not a single country is perfect. We all live in glass houses these days...hypocrisy is running rampant. It's always a one-upmanship for some reason.

If attitudes like that are running a plenty in every western country, then the terrorists have met their goals without even setting an IED off to do it.

Ok, I take back my earlier post that I am not experiencing any problems on the UT today. For some reason I keep hitting some key combination that is saving and sending my post while I in the middle of typing. Anyone know what that key combination is?

>Not in the slightest.

>You conveniently snipped out the first part of my post, so I'll re-post it here. The first part is a comment by you which is completely absurd, and to which I narrowly aimed my post:

>>>2) As I said, your country has not experienced these types of attacks. As I said, when a group flies planes into your buildings that lead to thousands of deaths in a matter of hours, then come back and talk. Until that day (which I hope DOESN'T happen), you're not on solid ground to talk.

>>While not to the same scale as 9/11, London suffered its own 7/7 attacks.
>
>So, the UK has experienced that type of attack. Furthermore, in WWII it endured attacks that were, by any rational measure, even more serious than 9/11. Telling Nick he's "not on solid ground to talk" about these issues is uncalled for.
