Code References searches through the field named 'Methods' in each VCX/SCX. All the methods for an object are stored there ... each begins with PROCEDURE and ends with ENDPROC.

The search algorithm simply searches that field, allowing you to find where a Procedure is defined. That means it has to search the line that starts with PROCEDURE.

Sounds to me like you want to use the checkbox 'Match whole word'.
