The solution is to use CDX indexes. VFP cursors are created with unique names in VFP temp directory. Many users can access your application and there is no chance of collision if you're using cursors and CDX indexes. Also, with CDX indexes there is no maintenance required. The CDX file gets deleted once you close the cursor.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
