I thought I would share some information in regards to the update to SQL Server 2008 R2 I did last night. When doing it, the SQL Server service remains active and the database can continue to be used. However, I had a full text indexing set up on it. For some kind of reason, this one didn't restart automatically. I had to start this service manually and changed it to Automatic.
