8Gb certainly seems more enough at present - I rarely need half that. 3yrs time? Who knows.
TBH, I didn't really intend to buy this machine - just happened to stick a low bid on ebay and got it :-{.
It's a Dell 1749. Also has 2x500gb drives which is more than I need.

Might be cheaper to buy the extra RAM seperately anyway ?
