Did you try disabling the OP Lock settings on on the Novell client? It opening tables or just local views? I've read many posts for this issue and don't see any solution (yet). Is it windows 7 64bit?

Sadly, one solution (which appeared to actually work) was (not tested or verified by me-use at your own risk):

Download and install "Novell Client 2 for Windows Vista-2008"
Choose the Custom Setup and DESELECT NMAS
and then:
File Caching, set this to Off
File Caching on exclusively opened files, set this to Off.
Opportunistic File Locking: set this to Off

I would test or contact Novell - is that even an option for you?
