>Agreed. Shanahan was praised for being an "offensive genus", but look at his record post-Elway and you see why he succeed. I said for a couple of years before he was fired that he needed to go for the team to move on. But the Broncos don't have the answer with their current coach. But, it really isn't any different than most teams that move on after a successful coach. The next coach usually is pretty bad compared to the one before. Each coach is compared to his predicesor, which is why the next Bronco's coach will be seen a hero (IMO).

>IMO, Shanahan won't have any better success in Washington than his latter Denver years. And, I could see it more like his stint as the Raider's head coach.

>>Yeah, but the Broncos have proved they were just an Elway away from being - the Browns <s>

Putting together a winning program is indeed a complex business. Remember, the last coach of the Browns before the move to Balitmore was Bill B.

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
