Just ran into odd "quirk" on some computers where the typed URL is changed. On my computer If I type:

http://machinename/

to access website hosted on particular computer in an intranet, the website comes up fine.

However on some computers if I type the same URL it gets "corrected" (adding "www" and "com") and becomes:

http://www.machinename.com/

and of course fails. Is there any setting that is used to configure this? From what I've observed it appears that it seems to affect all web browsers on the particular computer the same way (i.e. either all the browsers keep the URL as entered, or they all "correct" them) -- leading me to think that there's some setting within Windows itself that controls this. I've also noticed that the URL on links are also "corrected", which of course breaks things as well.

Luckily however, it's possible to use TCP/IP address directly instead of the machine name -- as the "correction" doesn't seem to be applied in the case. Of course I want to avoid hard-coding a lot of TCP/IP addresses into internal websites as it could get messy if I need to change the internal addressing scheme.
