>> I couldn't help but think what would happen if the doc got a BSOD during a critical operation? I think I'll keep doing my own doctoring, except for the vasectomy.... lol

LOL. But if you can do your own doctoring, how could it be impossible for non-programmers to do their own development? ;-)

FWIW a vasectomy is easy- truly anybody could do it. ;-) One reason people don't is because you do want an expert when something goes wrong. That will be the case until tech is good enough that the risk is low enough that the cost of an expert every time isn't worth it. IMHO that will happen for development before it happens before vasectomies. ;-)

As for BSOD: that may be commonplace in consumer IT but not in other spheres. Again, why is that, and who does it benefit?
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
