One of U.S. President Barack Obama's top economic advisers, Christina Romer, said in a statement on Thursday that she would step down from her post, effective Sept. 3, to return to being a professor in California.

As chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, Romer helped oversee the Obama administration's response to the economic crisis.

Romer's is a phd'd professor of economics at my alma mater.
Her credentials :

She puts her politics above sound economics, which may be fine to explore theoretically in the seclusion of a classroom, but once someone like that is put in charge of things that actually matter, we get the "The Job Impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan"
You may remember this gem:
It would not be until the first quarter in 2010, Ms. Romer and Mr. Bernstein say, that the Obama plan would have its maximum impact. But they say that without the plan, the unemployment rate in that quarter would be a whopping 8.8 percent. Under the plan, unemployment in 2010 would be 7 percent — approximately what it is now.

FWIW Krugman liked it, but felt it didn't go far enough.
Their report is reasonable and intellectually honest, which is a welcome change from the fuzzy math of the last eight years.

These people are dangerous and their degrees and acolades are meaningless in the real world. Their ideas have already been proven incorrect through historical implementation, yet they are still revered by many due to their honors d'academe.

I bid Romer a fond farewell! Back to the safety of the tenured walls with you. There you can speak amongst your colleagues about how it's all Bush's fault that His Obamaness' great plan and your sound analysis were a complete and utter failure. They'll all nod approvingly and you'll no doubt be offered a book deal. At least you're no longer in a position to further screw up the country's fiscal position. That'll be the job of the next Keynesian moron that our idiot president puts in place.
