and the 300+ foreign nationals as well.....

Having written that, I don't know what Obama has or has not done for those families.

President Clinton hosted an Eid al-Fitr, every year. Granted that was before 9/11 but the first White House Iftar dinner was hosted by President Bush after 9/11.

As to Obama's support for the mosque, personally, I feel that it is EXTREMELY insensitive to build 3 blocks from the site. It does concern me that it may be used in the future for other than religious freedom. However, I think that should be handled by local ordinances and NOT by the federal government.

I also think, insensitive or not, this is a country of religious freedom. Obama was correct that they are supported by the constitution (and should be) to practice their religion (as long as it breaks no laws and does no harm to anyone else). I would like to see a Catholic church, a synagogue, a buddhist temple or pagoda, another orthodox religion church, a Hindu monastery or temple, etc as well as my personal favorite: a Midewiwin Lodge all in the same area. The more the merrier!

Let's turn it into a neighborhood to celebrate the freedom and diversity of religious beliefs in this country.
