Has it occurred to anyone that - just maybe- google may have expected the suit? Those guys aren't completely dumb. What happens if they win the suit? All the post assumes they will lose. So far I think google has been winning the suits (I'm only aware of two wins). And this idea that java is in trouble is just silly. Nothing has changed if you are using java on any other platform besides android (and android just might be safe too).

And I wonder how the court will see a language free to everyone (including source) to use but protected by copyright (the language andriod is using)? Sun did not file a suit even when they were completely aware of android and BTW that was before the sale to Oracle. Which makes me wonder if they gave up any rights.
