My question was not concerning the VFP data engine per se - I was refering to the future ability to connect to a SQL Server 7.0 cube (within the Repository) via ADO (or ADO/MD as MS refers to). I was just wondering if you had heard anything about it and, if so, :
[1] Will native VFP controls will support ADO and ADO/MD collections as a ControlSource.
[2] Will the SQL Server 7.0 Repository support the VFP ODBC driver so that you can create metadata cubes with VFP data (e.g. a VFP-Access-Excel-Text cube).
This is powerfull stuff. We, as FoxPro programmers, have alot of experience with data and have provided some rather ingenious solutions for heterogeneous data. I may take some heat for saying this, but SQL Server 7.0 can provide us with an opportunity to REALLY do data in ways which are light years beyond the native VFP data engine. This can give us a competitive edge over the army of "data-unaware" programmers which has infected the market place.
