Thanks, Bill.

I strive to base my observations on facts, instead of feelings. It is a fact that Microsoft has stated its commitment to FoxPro. It is not a fact that they might let it slip away, unless they say so.

We humans have in our roots the instinct for basic survival. As intelligent as we have become, when our comfort feels threatened, we react as if it is factual. Gut instincts normally work best when coupled with logic. Usually, the only time gut instinct works best on its own is when we barf!

If one needs to know what's going on without having the stated facts, one can always pray, but I doubt God really cares about the fate of FoxPro, as His focus is on the Big Picture, rather than the purely material realm. However, one can always visit the folks at Psi Tech where Remote Viewing can be used to get inside the mind of Microsoft.

>Very well stated. I believe that you are correct in concluding that "FoxPro is here to stay," despite what some of the nay-sayers have said. Ever since MSFT first acquired the Fox, they've issued a number of statements regarding the future of FoxPro, its importance to MSFT, etc. As far as I can tell, they've stood by everything they've said.

>Admittedly, the stated direction for VFP has been a little vague at times, but the evolution of the product has been impressive. The fact that it is part of the Studio is most encouraging. Yes, VFP gets ignored a lot, but consider that there are few Microsofties (outside of the Fox team itself) who know much at all about VFP. That is a shame, to be sure. The MSFT folks SHOULD get to know it better, because (as I've previously stated in this forum) VFP could be marketed as a "Powerbuilder killer" if they put their corporate minds to it.

>>Microsoft has issued numerous press releases and announcements over the years, stating their commitment to the FoxPro platform. The fact that it has been included with Visual Studio, along with its constant evolution into a powerful development system, indicates (IMHO) that FoxPro is here to stay... until something is introduced that is worthy of replacing it.
>>
>>The exclusion of covering FoxPro when discussing Studio is not surprising. A quick scan of the employment section in almost any newspaper will reveal that the majority of programming jobs are demanding experience in languages such as C++ or Visual Basic. They seem to be the recognized "power languages" in an industry that fails to notice that information technology is also just as powerful.
>>
>>While C++ and VB programmers are busy developing the latest robotics interfaces and embedded chip technology, we FoxPro people will be quietly focusing on delivering information technology to those who can appreciate it.
