I do not think that is Obama's opinion on American people (nor did he say so), but if you personally took it this way,
then you (as in KevinG) indeed have serious problem.

I see this kind of speeches promoting tolerance and respect between religions, as reasonable/wise, and by all means necessary
in the times we are living in.

But then again Beauty (or ugliness) are in the eye of the beholder.

Many Americans share my viewpoint on Obama - so I guess we all have serious problems.

You've offered apologies in the past for the practice of Sharia in areas far outside cities, so it is very difficult for me to find any common ground with you on this.

You're making an assumption that all cultures and religions deserve equal respect to begin with. I do not accept this premise. As I said, we should celebrate cultures that are just and fair...not just diversity for the sake of diversity. I do not believe in tolerance and acceptance for that which seeks to destroy me, nor even for that which offers excuses for those who do.

Quite frankly, I think people who cling to religion have an issue with courage. The great author Robert Heinlein had a perfect quote about religion:

"History does not record anywhere at any time a religion that has any rational basis. Religion is a crutch for people not strong enough to stand up to the unknown without help. "
