I was thinking you want to delete (hide) the records and still have to correctly update the base table (set flag instead of actual deletion). Sounds like last idea by Boris (using DeleteCmd) is exactly what we need here. Then it will work correctly and you will delete records with delete command.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
