Maybe he is guilty as charged but I find the timing awfully suspicious. He poked the tiger with a stick (the U.S. government). It wouldn't be surprising if the tiger roared back.
There was a terrific profile of him in The New Yorker early this summer. Being a few weeks behind in my magazine reading, as usual, I read it right around the time the Afghanistan disclosures went off like a bomb.
Like all those who raise a finger to the powerful, he is both admired and reviled. If he is guilty of rape and molestation, lock him up. My admiration will fly out the window. Until then, I consider him a courageous man. Stay tuned.
