>I got a seminar at MS Turkey. Speaker said that Vista's version is 6, Windows 7's version is 6.1 . People think about Windows 7 is a new big version. Microsoft is really good at marketing.
It's a "no-brainer" if you look at it from a marketing standpoint. Vista is generally seen as a flop, so Microsoft will want to distance itself from the Vista name. Although from the reported version number one would surmise it as being "Vista with annoying bits mostly fixed" -- having any association with Vista will probably kill sales. I'm sure that I'm not the only one that has jokingly referred to Vista as "the second coming of Me" (not referring to technical aspects of it but rather the all sorts of compatibility problems one had to deal with). Don't know if it's a good sign when you have specially printed toilet paper as a promotional item...
