Title:
Resources for development techniques
I've been a Foxpro developer for about 7 years and just recently in the past six months became emersed in the visual world through trial by fire. I'm comfortable working in the envirronment and making things do what their supposed to as I'm creating my applications, but what are the best resources to understand the (standard?) techniques for developing. I know we all have our own way of doing things, but I'm finding that I can get the same result from a variety of methods. For (a very simple) example, I can use a When, InteractiveChange, Init or Activate to perform updates of one kind or another, yet there must be an way to develop that makes the most sense for the future of the app. I've worked some with classes, and see their benefit, but sometimes it seems more difficult to modify some objects once based on a class. Many of you here are authors and/or hardcore visual developers, discussing Foxpro like my college math professor talked about applied differential equations; I didn't always understand, but I definately appreciated his seemingly easy understanding of the underlying premises and structures. Ok, after all that, are there resources out there that I can utilize that would best get me going in the right direction. Where do the guys who live-and-breath Visual Foxpro :) go to stay on track and become the best at what they do?
Much thanks for your help, and even moreso your indulgence. Renoir
