I remember using DDT on sugar beets as a kid to kill cutworms. At that time it was illegal to actually apply it to sugar beets but we would apply the dust form of the chemical to a ditch bank when the wind was blowing the correct way. It was very effective. Latter, after DDT was taken off the market, I used other chemicals way more expensive and way more dangerous. I remember spraying Alfalfa seed and I had to dress in rubber suit, gloves, goggles, gas mask to protect myself. I remember a spray pilot applying a bug killer that was a modified form of nerve gas. He was taking off and a hose ruptured soaking him in the chemical. He was 10 minutes from the hospital and was dead before he got there. DDT was a very safe, cheep, and effective chemical and that lead to its ultimate demise.

Lets be honest here, the environmentalists got DDT removed from the market but the chemical companies were the beneficiaries. DDT was very cheep and effective. Most of the chemicals that came latter would not have been made if DDT was left on the market.

>I wish I had a shilling for every time someone told me spraying homes with DDT to prevent malaria is like using Africans in evil experiments. I would be a rich woman.

>That claim is a blatant falsehood. Even worse, it hides the many ways poor Africans really are being used in environmental experiments that cause increased poverty, disease and death.

>Elitist western environmentalism is directly responsible for the the unnecessary deaths of millions around the world. Civilian casualties from war are a blip by comparison.
