Seems as if roll-you-own manager types have a cornucopia from MS. It'll end in tears when MS dumps something unceremoniously. ;-)

Well, no one can predict the future, but right now enough aspects of the BI stack have sufficient momentum that I'd be surprised to see anything major happen in the near-term.

While not as catastrophic, MS has moved some of the pieces around, in trying to simply product offerings and release schedules. For instance, they delisted PerformancePoint Server (one of the most anticipated products in 2007) early last year, and rolled much of the feature set into SharePoint 2010. While many acknkowledged (rightly so) it belonged there all along, it still irritated a certain % of people. I think MS is still "finding their way" in the Business Intelligence area - so it's the growing pains that are the issue right now, more than a fear of dumping.
