I just had the strangest thought
(I think that line was taken from a classic children's book -- Maurice Sendak?)
In class the first day of school is it very strange. They know I am not trained in Education or certificated. I say yeah, I am not certified. And then I begin to speak to them like one human being to another. I say I am not stupid and don't think you are being well served by our educational system. Some bored eyes begin to open. I say I can't promise you a thing but we will give it our best shot, how's that? Education is its own reward, not just a GPA or getting into a good college. More skepticism. This is the world they have grown up in.
In my strange thought I think I would be a good teacher. Lord knows I need a new passion and I think it would be a good one. Give me a calculus class, half geniuses, half bored, and I think I would make a difference.
