>>>Here is an example from personal experience. One of the smartest women I have ever known was going out with my roommate but we always had an emotional connection. You don't make overtures with your roommate's significant other, you just don't, so nothing happened other than a lot of memorable conversations. After college she let me know she and he had broken up. Of course I was Johnny on the spot. We spent a night together in a hotel after my best friend's wedding. It was the proverbial night where you keep each other awake all night and talk about anything and everything. Somehow the topic came to abortion. In all honesty I do not remember how it came up. I asked her if she would. "As a matter of fact I would," she said. "As a matter of fact I did." She said her diaphragm didn't do the job and she wound up pregnant as a sophomore in college. She said that was the last thing I needed, back home with mom and dad and a baby. It was no get out of jail free card for her. She said I think about that baby who wasn't all the time. She finished her education, got a great job, met a great guy and married him. They have four daughters who are probably all grown by now. My point is that it is a complex issue men don't always understand. It's her choice. The word "choice" is not an idle one.

>>What the anti-choice guys don't get is that the choice is not just a matter of yes/no, it's more a matter of when. A lady can get pregnant at some moment when she just can't arrange a proper welcome to the new citizen of Earth. I can't imagine why would anyone wish upon a baby to arrive unwelcome.

>I agree wholeheartedly, but some people don't see the wood for all the trees, as we say here. They prefer that any unwanted child is born, and don't care about the mother's or child's future as such. As long as their own conscience is cleaner than their own butt, they are happy. Some of them are even willing to kill doctors, who mostly save lives, in order to get supporters.

>Having said that, I don't support abortion as an alternative to prevention, abortion should only be allowed when the mother really wants it. It's her body and her life, and her decision should be accepted and respected and not condemned. That's how it is here in Norway, and it has been that way since 1978. We had exactly the same discussion here in Norway, and common sense won. If someone want to have an abortion, they are free to have it, but only after having had a conversation with a doctor or a priest first.

Agreed. It should never be a first choice, and I suspect it seldom is. Just an option. Which has been a legal option here for about as long as it has there.

PS -- please stop worrying about your English, it's fine. Perfectly understandable 100% of the time.
