I can almost deal with someone wanting to not be DRAFTED or otherwise be involuntarily inducted into the military in a fighting role. In such a case, if they can show a history of having issues with violence, then I can see putting him/her in a non-combat role FROM DAY ONE.

Want to voluntarily join the military, get trained in combat arms and placed in a combat unit, and then say "oh by the way my religion doesn't allow me to be violent" (which is a real joke with Islam) when you are about to be deployed? Not a chance!!
