It is not common, but there are folks (not saying this is the case here) who join the military for the job training and guaranteed paycheck and then when mobilized, all of a sudden develop a conscientious objector status. Now in peace time, a few here and there are folks trying to ride the system, but in this case when we have had wide-spread military operations on-going for YEARS, and the oath is VERY CLEAR and every option to back out before taking the oath is provided, there is no excuse.
