where would you suggest I start learning about this (Reporting Services and how to incorporate reports in a web forms application and how to deploy them)? All the books look kind of old and I'm having trouble sifting through all the google search results.

Well, pretty much the same way a person usually learns the tools - by getting your hands dirty, asking questions on forums, etc.

There's a substantial amount of information on the web, but it can take some time to sift through the results.
