I really like this band. This is not exactly a hot scoop with them having been cult favorites for a while now and their latest CD topping the charts. I like it that they are serious musicians, respected by teenagers and their seniors like Bruce Springsteen and David Bowie alike.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-wEBmLht5gAs inevitably happens, with success they have been called sellouts. I'm not buying that one. Their music has not gone schlocky or poppy, it's about the same music it's been all along. Success alone seems to bring out the sellout charge. But why would they want to be less successful? They control their own channel of distribution, which I respect. The music distribution industry was exploitative and ripe for destruction. Too bad Miles Davis is gone because he would have had a great time playing over their grave.
My favorite Arcade Fire song, and undoubtedly the favorite of many others --
