>>John, I do totally support our troops. I am on record saying that many times here. I have said it directly to you many times that I respect your service even though we don't agree on a thing politically.
>>
>>Please read the cited articles, especially the one on Wikipedia. The picture I am getting is there was not even a battle. (Also, as an aside, he was in Afghanistan, not Iraq). It is on record that the military brass (!= soldiers) lied to us once about what really happened. I believe they lied to us twice.

>>If the conspiracy theory is correct, it's not clear the assassins were even soldiers. They may have been hired mercenaries. It is reported that Tillman was well liked by his fellow soldiers.

It's beyond contempt in my mind as well. I still think it's what happened.

Show me one message I have ever posted expressing contempt for soldiers. ONE. You can't do it. You are projecting my political opinions, which you disagree with, into areas they have never been.

I was skeptical about the Wikipedia for quite a while, for exactly the reason you state. My opinion has changed. There is in fact a lot of oversight. Bogus edits are quickly jumped on by members and removed. A guy who used to be a UT regular -- sorry, blanking on his name, down in Miami -- is one of the many monitors. (Now I remember -- Alex Feldstein).

If you want to say you think my political opinions are baloney, that is your right. Just please don't say I have been critical of soldiers. Even in wars I have thought were wrong, like Iraq, I have always respected the men and women who served in them.
