>>The numbers I saw last week from Forrester predict the US market and show Android will have 50% of the mobile phone market by 2014.
At present the mobile phone market is dominated by mass-market cheapy handsets, including in the US, so overall figures for smartphones appear lower if you look at all phones or even all data phones. If you limit yourself to smartphones, you're more than likely correct about Android- certainly Gartner agrees that Android will be the one in the US by the end of this year.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
