Thanks Sergey ... I suspected that might be what I'd need to do, but I know nothing about linked servers.

So then the next question is ... are there any downsides to using Linked Servers? The SQL Server that will have the trigger on it (SERVER1), is not owned by me (although I will be allowed to set up my triggers on it) ... and it will need to be linked to SERVER2, which would be owned by me. Basically, I'm working on integration of various disparate software systems (which would each have their own database servers). Will this be a problem for my customers? Would most DBAs allow their Servers to be linked to another company's Server or is this not standard practice?
