>>>Also about to pop for a $139 Kindle Wi-fi. 3rd gen, graphite etc and price hit the sweet spot.

>>Mine just arrived on Thursday. I spent the extra $50 and got both 3G and Wi-fi. I already had the previous Kindle model, but the new one seemed a lot better. And it is ... it's smaller and lighter, and the better contrast is definitely noticeable. So far, I'm glad I got it. You'll love it!

>You are as bad as I used to be with cars ;-) I once bought new Corvettes in two consecutive years. The first one was a screamer but I wanted the red one, wah.

LOL!! I don't always want to get the latest and greatest, though ... it really does depend on what it is. And this was actually a tough decision, since we still do not have any income. But, the main reason we both decided to get the new Kindles is that now we can share books. For example, Gary has every Lee Child book on his Kindle. I bought the first book in the "Jack Reacher" series a few months ago, read it, liked it, want to read the entire series. If Gary had bought old-fashioned paperbacks <g>, I could easily read his collection. However, we can't trade Kindle books (they are licensed to one user ... we can't simply copy the files from his Kindle to my Kindle). Yes, we could swap our Kindles, so I could read something on his while he reads something on mine, but that wouldn't really work well, since he reads more (and faster) than I do. So, by having the old Kindles still, I can read the Jack Reacher series on his old Kindle, which doesn't interfere with him reading stuff on his new Kindle. We'll recoup the cost of the new Kindles easily, since we have a lot in common in what we like to read.
