>>I couldn't remember, so I just went to check. I've been robbed!! I went through all my 45s and it's not there. On the plus side, I did come across that great old hit by (who can forget) "The Cookies" - Don't Say Nothin' Bad About My Baby.
>>
>>Want to know what's on the flip side of Nino Tempo and April Steven's hit "Deep Purple"? That's right, "I've Been Carrying a Torch For You So Long, I've Burned a Great Big Hole In My Heart"
>>
>>A few old Ronnie Hawkins tunes too. It was a nice little trip down memory lane, so even if I'm missing Teen Angel, thanks for making me look.

>The Hawk! You have probably seen "The Last Waltz," the farewell concert of The Band. Charles was there in person, I had to wait for the movie. Ronnie Hawkins burns down "Who Do You Love?" The Band were his backing band when they were just getting started. They tell some great stories about shoplifting groceries because they had no money, about playing a gig in Dallas in front of a crowd of about 10 people -- and later finding out the club was owned by Jack Ruby. Depending on how you feel about "Stop Making Sense" by Talking Heads, it's about the best rock concert film ever made. It was an anomaly for Martin Scorsese but you can tell it was made by a professional director. No shaky crowd shots.

Yeah, I too had to wait for the movie. I love it. I'm sure there are one or two wrongheaded souls out there who would disagree, but for me, The Band is the best rock group that ever was. Musically, lyrically, vocally... they had it all. When they were playing here with Ronnie Hawkins at The Hawks Nest, they were called The Hawks (how strange ;)). I think it was Dylan who actually coined them. When they went on the road with him, they didn't really have a name anymore, so he just referred to them as 'The Band'.
