One of two things happen : the majority of the people are too stupid to vote for Progressive Democratic Enlightened people (who all the smart people and more importantly the cool people vote for) or they are too stupid to know when the Progressive Democratic Enlightened people they did vote for ( when they evidently weren't as stupid ) are doing something they need even though they don't want it.

I am sure it would have been devastating and eviscerated my argument with a cold scalpel of logic and historical fact <g>

Please understand that my point is simply that you can't favor the wisdom of the majority when they vote for Obama and then decide the majority is stupid if they don't agree with what he actually does (though I grant you the first majority was definitely about form and the changed majority more directed at substance)

I also agree that the midterm will be very telling. ( and agree even further with you - and Krauthammer - that travesties like the TeaParty win in the Delaware primary are doing nothing to help.)

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
