i have a program which i have been successfully using since many years without any problems

it has a command

append from "filename" type xls

people from different companies send their excel file and it gets appended into our database without any problems

however recently we have had errors coming up with new versions of excel, so until and unless i do not 'Save As' an Excel 95 file it does not accept that it is an excel file

what are my solutions to ensure that both the old as well as the new forms of excel can be downloaded without having to convert it into an Excel 95 file
