Not trying to be a wise-guy, but I'm a little hazy on what the value is. If I read this correctly, you get to read book samples...and then the option to buy the Kindle edition of the book. Since you're a Kindle owner, maybe you can enlighten.

Over the weekend I had a chance to try a Kindle 3 for a day (family friend owns one). This is just personal view - it certainly works well, but I don't like the display (I tried in different rooms with different lighting) and the Kindle browser is, well, not that great.

I wish I could find a device that's

- a little larger than a Kindle 3 and a little lighter than an iPad
- has color
- can browse the web and has an email client
- Some type of calendar app
- Ability to simply read Office docs

In other words, a lighter and less expensive iPad.

I can do all those with my HTC Evo, but obviously that's too small as a book reader. (There actually is a Kindle app for the Android O.S., but it's terrible on a four inch phone display)
