Here is some information from the rep at Entrust:

"The EV certificate causes the browser to turn green and displays the organization security info more in a more prominent way. EV certificates are only sold by certain vendors who all have to stick to the same rigid guidelines. The actual level of encryption is the same for EV as it is for a standard ssl certificate but the value is the verification involved in getting an EV and the confidence the user has when visiting a site secured with EV."

EV stands for Extended Validation.
