I'm a bit unclear on what exactly you are doing, so, just to cover the basics (forgive me if you've already checked all this):

1. Is your controlsource bound to a field in the master table?
2. Is your rowsource drawn from a (different) lookup table?
3. What is your rowsource?
4. Do you have code in any methods? If so, what?
5. Do add the master record before making a selection from the cbo?

>If I have two or three tables in the DE with no relation between them, with the 2nd and/or 3rd table used just as a combobox for lookup valid entries in the desired fields for adding a new record, as soon as that field does "lostfocus" the record pointer moves in the master table, and the underlying record is updated, NOT the new (blank) one.
