>The point I was making was there was no connection between Barack Obama and the 60s guys. And there is little if any connection to the newer ones. He is about as radical as Orville Redenbacker. It's just that tired guilt by association stuff again.

The New Black Panthers certainly think they are the Black Panthers (though the old ones disavow them) and are certainly every bit the racist thugs the originals were.

The issue is that the Obama justice department ( I know you took issue with that but Eric Holder is Obama's man and he is AG ) dropped the voter intimidation suit some of those career people filed against the NBPP - and that can only happen with approval of the AG.

I do agree that Obama is no "radical" in the NBPP sense. But if Bush had to take hits for all the wacko right-wing nutjobs whose support he curried, Obama has to eat NBPP, Code Pink, Acorn, and Ayers.

I think Obama's personal disdain for simple-minded people makes him feel he is insulated from association with people he uses - Wright and the Code Pink people being a good examples - because privately he thinks they are fools and he has no compunction about telling everyone what they want to hear.

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
